The following message is being forwarded to all administrative managers in the College of Arts and Sciences from the Office of International Student Services

 

Dear Colleagues,

 

We hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you of an upcoming change regarding Premium Processing fees for the types of petitions that we file with USCIS.

 

Effective February 26, 2024, the Premium Processing fees for Forms I-129 and I-140 will be increasing to $2,805. This adjustment is in accordance with the latest regulatory changes.  We will continue to keep our Hosting Units informed of any fee changes, as they go into effect.

 

To access the updated fee information, please refer to the ISSS Portal and our International Scholars site in Sakai. These platforms will provide you with the most current details regarding the Premium Processing fees.

 

As part of our commitment to providing you with the necessary resources, we have created training videos to assist you in submitting Pre-Review and H-1B requests. We strongly encourage you to watch these videos immediately if you have not done so already and before initiating your request. The training videos can be accessed through the following links:

 

 

If you require ISSS Portal access, you must complete all trainings (available here) and submit a Departmental Access Request Form.

 

Additionally, Hosting Units are being notified of a critical deadline for the following scenarios:

 

  1. Prospective employees who may require H-1B work authorization with anticipated start dates of July 1, 2024
    1. Please submit your Pre-Review requests by Monday, January 22, 2024

 

  1. Current UNC-CH employees in H-1B status whose current H-1B work authorization will end on June 30, 2024 and require an extension
    1. Please submit your H-1B Update Reporting requests (which includes the H-1B Extension Pre-Review) by Monday, January 22, 2024

 

To ensure a proposed start date or extension start date of July 1, 2024, Step 1 of the H-1B Request must be submitted to ISSS by February 1, 2024.  The H-1B Request can only initiated after a corresponding Pre-Review assessment.
