H-1B Requests Transition
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to give you an update about the ISSS Portal, our immigration case management system which was launched on November 7, 2022. The system allows Hosting Units, academic units, as well as international students and scholars to prepare and submit requests to ISSS electronically. The system is being rolled out in phases. The first phase was rolled out last November which included international student-related requests and J-1 Exchange Visitor requests. This year, we worked on phase two of the rollout which includes Pre-Review and H-1B related requests. Phase two of the ISSS Portal will launch on December 4, 2023.
H-1B Requests Transition Timeline:
Hosting Units may continue to submit H-1B requests using the current process (via email to ISSS@unc.edu or by dropping off a paper request) until 4:00PM Friday, December 1, 2023. Beginning Monday, December 4, 2023, Hosting Units must submit all phase two requests through the ISSS Portal.
ISSS Portal Trainings Pre-Review & H-1B Requests:
In order to submit phase two requests, Hosting Unit Contacts will need to watch the training videos on the Pre-Review and H-1B request processes. These training videos will show you how to submit these types of requests via the ISSS Portal. We will also be providing you with a step-by-step guide on using the ISSS Portal. We will reach out to you in the coming weeks with more information about the training and how to access it.
